Digital technologies deliver personalised connected health care

Innovators advancing digital health care are sharing in more than $4 million in Future Health Research and Innovation (FHRI) Fund grants.
The 14 recipients of Innovative Solutions – Digital Health program grants include Professor Girish Dwivedi’s team from Fiona Stanley Hospital. The project received almost $500,000 to research development of the personalised health platform, Orva, featuring the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in medicine.
The technology empowers people to better understand their health by explaining information in layman's terms and encouraging patients to ask questions about their treatment.
Associate Professor Matthew Anstey, from Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH), was awarded $91,300 for an initiative to predict life-threatening sepsis in the emergency department.
Professor Elizabeth Davis, head of the Endocrinology and Diabetes department at Perth Children's Hospital, received more than $460,000 to revolutionise diabetes management in WA based on data driven work for Kids Research Institute Australia.
The project, carried out on behalf of the University of Western Australia, enables diabetes care plans to be tailored to individual patient needs.
