The Women and Infants Research Foundation (WIRF) invites you to its flagship scientific event, the 2025 WIRF Scientific Dialogue, taking place on Friday 5 September at the UWA Club Auditorium. This year’s theme, From Eminence to Evidence, highlights the critical importance of using robust, high-quality data to inform practice and policy in maternal and neonatal care.

The event will feature keynote presentations from Professor Ben (Willem) Mol, a global leader in maternal care research through large-scale clinical trials, and Professor Brett Manley, who leads pioneering trials such as PLATIPUS to improve outcomes for preterm infants. Together, they will explore how rigorous evidence is reshaping the future of maternal and neonatal health.

You’ll also hear from a diverse lineup of speakers including Professor Mary Steen, Dr Kate Buchanan, Dr Mark Fear, Dr Erin Fee, Dr Bradley Macdonald, and Dr Brennen Mills, covering topics from perinatal mental health and endometriosis to antenatal corticosteroids in twins and virtual-reality birthing simulations for paramedics.

The day begins at 12pm with a networking lunch, followed by the Scientific Dialogue at 1pm, and a reception with drinks and canapés from 6 to 7pm

Attendees will also enjoy the announcement of the 2025 Research Acceleration Award winners, presentations from student and early career researcher competitions, an interactive moderated Q&A session, and a consumer panel hosted by Joanne Beedie, Chief Executive Officer of Helping Little Hands.
